A Story Beyond Laundry

… Brighter Neighborhood

Bugada is a venture by The Lilbigs (Midi, Lilo & Taki ), which started out as a self service laundry lounge, an old car repair shop with chemicals & toxic substances & dark colors dominating a street under Acropolis Athens which was transformed into a welcoming store, carefully considered where white & blue, citrus, Orange and lavender are the prevailing colors and scents & soap is the King.

Making .. Time

Initially, Our prime intent was to cater one of the most essential needs of busy local residents, visitors & local airbnb hosts in a simplified manner … making time for them, enabling them to reallocate their time to what matters, make our city feel more livable for them, removing a great deal of the challenges local airbnb providers face with laundry care,empowering them to grow their business.

Chasing Stains

Too many stains Too little time too much plastic & too many chemicals.

We don’t believe that the world is in a great need for just another coin laundry that operates as usuals, using the same amount of energy water and chemicals people use at home, but the world definitely needs to incorporate in his life a more responsible way for doing its laundry. The world is in need for a laundry with a greater consideration for all.

We are relentlessly trying to find a balance between the effective the responsible & the profitable and constantly experimenting on new effective ways & solutions that reduce the water waste, chemicals, carbon and definitely less plastic while keeping prices affordable and we can’t deny that at times we overdo it to the point where our Store looks more like a lab than a lounge.

Bugada became a place of sharing and exchanging intelligence and is actively supporting the research of scientists from distinguished detergent research labs of Greece in testing new advanced and eco friendly detergent formulas. Bugada is sharing the feedback & customer analytics in a joint effort to discover new alternatives that can deliver results, affordable and with less harm to the environment. Every few days a chemist gets directly in touch with customers at bugada store to get a better understanding of what people really need, what works for them.

We are currently preparing to introduce the first automated soap refilling station the first of its kind in the country in an effort to reduce the use of virgin plastic and we partnered with a local certified organic soaps & detergents manufacturer to provide the community with a credible & affordable choice. Refill old plastic but the quantity you actually need, the money you save from not paying for the plastic packaging you use to buy quality organic & certified vegan soaps at a lower price than that charged by big retailers for highly chemical substitutes

One more thing

When we were starting this journey we never expected that Bugada could a place of connect, which in Greek and in Catalan Spanish literally means, washing clothes), would evolve into a place of interaction where locals and visitors could connect. A meeting place for visitors as they wait for their taxi to get to the airport or the port

Alex 6 is playing with the laundry baskets while waiting impatiently for his football uniform to dry to be ready for his next game, Eli the big white Labrador is laying on the floor watching the the washer spinning and checking out the students storing their bags, Judith the Canadian nomad is assisting a Greek grandma that does not speak a word in English with the washer directions and somehow they find a way to communicate .
Bugada is about caring , all these scenes we have witnessed are a reminder that most human challenges are universal and most people share similar concerns in their daily routine

Bugada is about renewal

Paola the archeologists student that was participating in an excavation and for 3 weeks could not wash her clothes and got a big smile on her face when she did,  girls showing up every few days just to make photos for Tik Tok and Instagram. Bugada can be Instagramable, Bugada has touched the lives of so many people and not only directly but also indirectly, when a visitor gets a rest on a bed or a shower in a super host rental in koukaki the towels and bedsheets have most probably be cleaned and treated by Bugada since Bugada is their preferred laundry partner.

Our Core purpose has become to enable self care while reducing the environmental footprint associated with the completion of simple but essential tasks in the typical daily routine of a busy city center.

Put it simple we are repurposing underproductive and neglected spaces using proprietary integrated technologies to provide simplified solutions, both self service and assisted service solutions that transform space into time & energy savers, reduce waste & remove the hassle of all kinds allowing people to incorporate sustainability in their daily routine seamlessly, thus reinforcing the sense of safety, security, flexibility, cleanliness.

Bugada’s secret formula is not about just energy efficient washers or about state of the art locker technology and eco detergents.
